Summer 2024 - Author’s Spotlight

A Q&A with John Chavez

Avid reader and Amazon reviewer

Q: What do you enjoy most about reading?

A: The story line and characters.

Q: What genre do you enjoy most?

A: I like reading about the underdog character like Samantha Church; followed by murder mysteries, vigilante revenge, and one western genre.

Q: What other authors (besides me, ha, ha) do you enjoy reading?

A: Vickie McKeehan, her Evil Trilogy, an all-time favorite and Pelican Pointe series, John Corwin, his Amos Carver Special Ops character with vigilante revenge, Alan Lee, his Andie Stackhouse and Marshal Manny Martinez characters, Robert J. Thomas, a western genre on his Jess Williams character, which has 134 books out on him currently.

Q: How many books do you typically read each month?

A: Between 10 and 15

Q: What appeals to you about a book that makes you want to read it? Reviews? Book cover?

A: Mainly book cover and title and I like books that are in a series. The book cover of the Friday Edition, the first book in the Samantha Church Mystery Series, really drew me in.

Q: Besides reading and reading, what other secret skills do you have?

A: I like doing puzzles; afterwards I break them down and give them to our pizza server to take to her kids. I also like to paint by numbers, hehe, not a brilliant artist by a long shot, the numbers keep me focused and honest.
